Graduation is a special milestone, and Plano ISD wants graduation to be a positive and personal experience for every senior by having each student’s name pronounced correctly during the ceremony. To help make that possible, our district will use NameCheck, an AI-powered name pronunciation and announcement tool, for this year’s graduation.
Why We Are Using NameCheck
- It helps ensure each graduate’s name is announced correctly and consistently.
- It gives students and families an opportunity to review pronunciation before graduation.
- It supports a smooth, respectful ceremony for graduates, families and staff.
- It will allow the graduates’ names to be projected on-screen as they cross the stage during the live ceremony.
- It helps ensure each student is recognized in the way they intend.
What to Know
- Students and families are able to adjust spelling to help with pronunciation.
- If no pronunciation is submitted, the platform may use the best available pronunciation at the time of the ceremony.
- Campus staff will continue to support the process, including serving as backup announcers if needed.
